⚠️ SUPERSEDED — content development moved to tuna-os/tromso

The KDE/Plasma/freedesktop-sdk elements formerly developed here were consolidated into tuna-os/tromso (see its README, updated 2026-07-23), which now builds and publishes ghcr.io/tuna-os/tromso directly. This repo is retained for reference and CI only — treat it as read-only. New work, issues, and PRs belong in tuna-os/tromso.

KDE Build Metadata is a BuildStream project for building the KDE Plasma 6 desktop stack. It follows the same architecture as GNOME's gnome-build-meta, adapted for KDE.

This repo produces a KDE Linux OCI image — a non-customized desktop closely replicating the upstream KDE Linux MKOSI build. Downstream distribution projects (like hanthor/tromso for Aurora) junction into this repo and layer their customizations on top.

Building Standalone​

Requires: podman and just.

Using as a Junction (for downstream projects)​

After pushing changes to this repo, update the junction in the consuming project:

Key Patterns​

  • Always include kde/qt6/qt6-qtbase.bst in build-depends for Qt6 CMake detection
  • Use cmake-local (not cmake-options) for CMake flags
  • KDE framework dependencies needed by CMake must appear in both depends: and build-depends:
